A more invigorating massage for active people and anyone who prefers firmer pressure
Sports massage is suitable for people who practise regular or intensive physical activity, but also for anyone who simply prefers a firmer and more dynamic massage.
The massage is adapted to each person and to the areas that are particularly stressed or tense. It can be useful around physical activity, or simply when certain muscular tensions are present.
When particularly tense or sensitive areas are identified, specific trigger point work can also be incorporated into the massage.
What is a trigger point?
A trigger point is a localised area in a muscle or surrounding tissues that is particularly sensitive to pressure and may be associated with local pain or, in some cases, pain felt in another area.
Simply put, it can be thought of as a particularly tense and painful area of muscle.
These areas may develop in different situations, including repeated muscular activity, repetitive movements, prolonged static positions, muscular overload or trauma.
Trigger points are therefore not limited to athletes. Spending long periods in the same position at a desk or computer, for example, can also contribute to muscular tension.
How are trigger points treated?
Trigger point work involves applying targeted manual pressure to the areas concerned.
The pressure is adapted to the person’s sensitivity and to the area being treated. Some areas may be sensitive during treatment, so the intensity is always adjusted according to how the person responds.
Depending on the situation, several sessions may be needed to work progressively on certain areas of tension.
A personalised massage
Gessica adapts the techniques she uses according to the person, their activity and the areas being treated.
Depending on the situation, the massage may combine different manual techniques, including kneading, smoothing, mobilisation and more targeted work on muscular areas.
The massage is performed with an oil to which Gessica may add, according to your preferences and your needs at the time of treatment, carefully selected essential oils prepared at the practice.
The aim is not to perform exactly the same massage for everyone, but to adapt the treatment to the tensions and needs of each person.
Kinesiotape and application
Kinesiotape, also known as elastic therapeutic taping or neuromuscular taping, involves applying elastic adhesive tape to the skin using different techniques.
The application, direction and tension of the tape are selected according to the intended purpose and the area being treated.
Taping may be used as a complement to manual treatment in certain situations. It does not replace medical care or appropriate treatment when these are required.
Gessica has also completed training in taping within the field of lymphology and uses this technique when it is appropriate to the individual situation.
